Setting up Meta Pixel events correctly before you spend on ads
Facebook can only optimise for results it can see. Without correct pixel events your ad budget is spent on clicks instead of customers.
Article
Many businesses boost posts or run ads without a working pixel. Meta then optimises for whoever is most likely to click, not whoever is most likely to buy.
Install the pixel on every page
The base pixel code records page views. It should load on every page of the website, ideally through Google Tag Manager or the website admin panel so you can change it without a developer.
Send the events that matter
For a service business, the important events are Lead (a quote or contact form) and Contact (a call or WhatsApp click). For a shop, they are ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout and Purchase with the order value.
Verify your domain
Verify your domain in Meta Business Settings and choose your priority events. This keeps tracking reliable on iPhones.
Test before launching
Use the Meta Pixel Helper browser extension and the Test Events tool in Events Manager to see each event arrive. Only then start spending.
