How to choose ERP software for a business in Bangladesh

Most ERP projects fail because the software was chosen before the process was understood. Here is the order we recommend instead.

Article

An ERP touches every part of a business: purchase, stock, production, sales, accounts and people. That is why choosing one feels risky, and why so many companies end up back on spreadsheets six months later.

1. Write down how money and stock move today

Before looking at any software, draw the path of a single order: who receives it, who approves it, where stock comes from, how it is delivered and how the money is collected. This map is the real requirement document.

2. Decide what must be automatic

Pick the three to five things that cost you the most time or money today, for example month-end accounts, stock mismatches or salary sheets. The ERP must solve those first.

3. Ask to see your own process in a demo

A good vendor will show your order flow in their system, not a generic tour. If they cannot, the software will probably force you to change how you work.

4. Check accounting and reports

Ask whether every transaction posts to a proper double-entry ledger. Without that, profit and loss reports are only estimates.

5. Plan data import and training

Opening stock, customer dues and supplier payables must be imported correctly on day one. Budget time to train each department on the screens they will use.
